Roofing Services
Your Roof
One of the most important parts of your home or business premises. A leaking or insecure roof can lead to long-term problems such as rotten timbers or other structural damage. Many homeowners make the mistake of spending time and money on internal refurbishment while neglecting the basic covering of the building. A sound roof is essential for protecting your property and maintaining its value.
Buying a Property
If you are moving house or considering buying one, the condition of the roof will be an important consideration. Your surveyor will usually comment on this in their report. Surveyors can sometimes be quite negative however, and may not always cover all the details. We can look at the roof and give you a fair and impartial assessment, together with a detailed quotation for any work. A small charge is made for this service when buying a property.
Roof Repairs – Planned
We provide a call out service to deal with storm damage or other emergencies and will put any necessary temporary measures in place to protect your property. We can then do a more detailed assessment to help you with any insurance claims and get your roof fixed. A call out charge is payable, but we will not seek to make things worse by hitting you with unreasonable charges. Making your roof sound should be your first priority – please call us as soon as possible. We would advise you to check your insurance policy, as it may not cover all the costs.
Roof Replacement
Many roofs can be kept going almost indefinitely with ongoing maintenance. However there comes a time when repeated repairs are no longer viable, and you will need to consider a replacement. There will usually be an undesirable level of dampness within the roof space, which can lead to problems with timbers and rot. There is also the risk that a severe storm may expose any weaknesses over night and leave you with a major leak to deal with. A new roof is a major investment, but will add value to your property and save you money in the longer term. It makes sense to sort out your roof before spending large amounts of money on internal refurbishment. Most mortgage lenders will be sympathetic to releasing funds for this type of work, as you are protecting the value of your investment.
Slates and Tiles
We only use top quality materials. Our slates come directly from sources carefully checked and selected by us.
You can choose between natural and artificial slates.
Natural slate is slightly more expensive, but looks better for longer and will last for up to 80 years.
Artificial slate is somewhat less expensive, is just as waterproof and has a neat appearance. We generally use polymer fibre slates which we source directly from the manufacturer. These will last for around 40 years .
Artificial Slate
Ultimately the choice is yours. There may be cases where only one type of slate can be used, in which case we will advise you accordingly.

More on Tiles
There are many different types of profiles of tiles from many different manufacturers. They really fall into four categories, Hand made Clay Tiles, Machine made clay tiles, simulated clay tiles and concrete tiles.
If you are looking for real character you would choose hand made clay tiles. If you were looking for the least expensive large format tile you would choose concrete. Please see our links page for more information or click here.

UPVC Fascia Boards, Soffits and Bargeboards
Gutters and Downpipes
Chimney Stacks, pots and ventilation
Once you are happy with your quotation, and we have agreed payment terms, we can agree when to start work on your roof. This page contains information about what we will do to manage the works through to completion.
Dates for the work
As far as possible we will stick to the dates agreed. Because we do not undertake large commercial projects, our roofers will not be pulled off the job, leaving you with a half finished roof. The main uncertainty is the weather. Naturally, you do not want your roof stripped off during heavy rain or high winds. Our prime concern is the health and safety of yourself and our team. If bad weather delays work, we will talk to you and agree revised dates as soon as possible.
Once we start work, we will ensure that your roof is protected at all times. If we have stripped off the roof covering, but not finished the replacement, we will put fully weatherproof tarpaulins in place to prevent any leakage. In the worst-case scenario, such as a severe storm, we provide a 24-hour emergency call out service.
We can generally give a start date within a few weeks. We are not tied down to large commercial projects, because homeowners and small businesses are our chosen main customers. Therefore we will not have to fit you in around other projects.
